Tenth-placed Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of the clubs Sporting Director Michael Zorc, it has been announced.
Zorc's contract will now expire in 2009, Dormund's Executive Director Hans-Joachim Watzke stated on Friday. "We enjoyed a good conversation with Michael Zorc and we agreed to continue our cooperation." "I am glad that the club has continued to place its trust in me and that I can continue to manage the sporting developments of this club" commented Zorc after the deal was announced. Watke also stated that Head Coach Thomas Doll has also been offered a contract extension, and that further talks on the matter will be held in the future.
Interested in Lehmann
Watke also confirmed that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing German international goalkeeper Jens Lehmann, who is currently under contract with English Premier League leaders Arsenal. Lehmann played for Dortmund between 1999 and 2003. "Due to the injury of Roman Weidenfeller, there is a vacancy in this position, and that is why we have approached Jens Lehmann. We're waiting for his decision" announced Watzke, who also said he is "cautiously optimistic" that a deal can be made.
