Even though Real Madrid have a commanding lead on the Spanish La Liga standings, Iker Casillas feels that his team will have to continue to be at their very best in order to win the championship this season.
Casillas, who has been in very good form in the Real Madrid goal this season, affirmed that his team can not afford to slip up if they want to win successive league championships.
He feels that they deserve to be in top position on the league standings, and they should continue to improve as the season progresses.
The highly-rated goalkeeper also commented about Real Madrid’s 2-1 Copa del Rey victory over Alicante on Wednesday, saying that his team suffered right until Guti scored the match winner in injury time.
Casillas also praised the recent good form of teammates Guti and Julio Baptista, stating that Bernd Schuster has the entire squad at his disposal, and it is often difficult to make team selections, because of this.
