Everton have completed the signing of Plymouth starlet Dan Gosling in a deal which could see the Championship side bank a club-record fee of £2million.
The 17-year-old midfielder has made just 24 senior appearances for Argyle but has done enough to convince Everton manager David Moyes he is ready to make the step up to the Barclays Premier League.
Gosling, an England Under-17 international, will cost the Toffees an initial £1million with a further £1million based on the level of appearances he makes for club and country.
Argyle have not disclosed the length of Gosling's deal and chairman Paul Stapleton admits it is a deal which suits all parties involved.
'As a club, we simply couldn't stand in the way of allowing Dan the chance of following his dream, nor would we want to,' Stapleton told the club's official website.
'To move to Everton at this time is a fantastic opportunity for a young man who potentially has the world at his feet.
'He is a very nice young man and deserves his chance. I also know his family well, and we wish him and them all the best.'
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock added: 'If Dan works hard, listens to what he is taught, and is prepared to make sacrifices, everything is lying in front of him.'
