Figo Calls For Maniche Purchase

Inter star Luis Figo has called on his club to sign fellow countryman Maniche during the January transfer window.

Figo Calls For Maniche Purchase

The Nerazzurri are certain to purchase a midfielder this month due to the injury crisis currently raging through the club.

Olivier Dacourt is out for the rest of the season, Patrick Vieira is still struggling with constant fitness problems, Dejan Stankovic may require an operation, while Figo himself is recovering from a broken leg.

A host of midfielders have been linked with a move to Inter and the latest is Atletico Madrid’s Maniche.

The 30-year-old has reportedly been frozen out of the squad by his club, and has now informed his agent to find him a new team.

Tottenham Hotspur have made an official bid for Maniche, although Inter are also reputed to be lurking around with intent.

“I don’t know what stage the transfer is at,” Figo stated.
“All I can say is that he is an excellent player. He would give a crucial boost to our midfield.”

Maniche began his career at Benfica, and has since represented Alverca, Porto, Dynamo Moscow and Chelsea, before signing for Atletico Madrid in 2006.

He has played 44 times for the Portugal national team, and featured prominently at Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006.
