Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has vowed to spend sensibly in the January transfer window.
Hodgson inherited a side that has struggled in the Barclays Premier League this season when he took charge at Craven Cottage at the end of December. But he is wary of making too many changes before he has had a chance to assess what he already has at his disposal. "It's a dangerous time the January transfer window because there's only one window in the season," said Hodgson on the club's official website. "We've got to be wise. I wouldn't like to be bringing players in on a short term basis." Hodgson is staying open-minded about the possibility of bringing in new players but is looking for individuals who can develop over time rather than a quick-fix solution.
definite pedigree
He explained: "They've got to make us better, not just in the last months of the season to keep us in the league but also next season when we're trying to build an even stronger team. "That's a tough task. The type of players that are being flagged up are not the type of players that have definite pedigree that you can be 100 per cent certain they are top-quality Premiership players who will make us better today and we can build on tomorrow. "I'm not ruling out signing players - absolutely not. We want to do well and if there are players out there who will make us better then please bring them on. "What we don't want to do is to be panicked into buying players that won't help us do better and just make our list of players longer."
