PARIS, January 13 (Ligue 1) - Paris St Germain finally recorded their first home win of the season as some tactical mastery from coach Paul Le Guen saw them storm to victory against fellow strugglers Lens.
Second-half substitute Pedro Pauleta gave the hosts the lead four minutes after coming off the bench before fellow substitute Amara Diane grabbed two goals in as many minutes to send the home fans into raptures.
Both sides are struggling in Ligue 1 and, knowing how vital the three points were, started cautiously.
It took until the 37th minute for the first real chance of the match. Peguy Luyindula thought he had given PSG the lead as his low shot beat Lens keeper Vedran Runje, but Milan Bisevac got back to clear the danger.
Seconds later Lens should have gone in front as Abdoulrazak Boukari raced down the left wing before firing a 30-yard screamer towards goal which PSG keeper Mickael Landreau somehow managed to block.
Le Guen brought Diane on in the 42nd minute and the Ivory Coast striker almost had an instant impact as his six-yard header crashed off the crossbar.
Pauleta, the record goalscorer for Portugal, came off the bench in the 54th minute and immediately changed the course of the game.
Diane dribbled past Lens defender Lucien Aubey before crossing the ball in for the striker to volley home.
Lens came close to equalising seconds after the restart but Landreau kept his concentration well to deflect away Nadir Belhadj's fierce drive from the edge of the penalty area.
Seven minutes later the result was put beyond doubt after two stunning Diane goals.
He ran into the penalty area to volley Jerome Rothen's cross into the top corner in the 65th minute.
And two minutes later headed in at the near post to finish off a great move started by man-of-the-match Rothen.
