Schalke have announced their first signing for next season: Levan Kenia will team up with the professionals in the summer.
The 17 year old Georgian will play for Schalke's Under19s until then. He will sign a professional contract on his 18th birthday (October 18 2008), lasting until June 30 2012.
On trial a year ago
Levan Kobiashvili had organised a trial for Kenia one year ago, and "he impressed our coach Norbert Elgert", sporting director Andreas Müller remembers.
Since then the midfielder has won four caps for Georgia, attracting interest from several European top clubs. But he had already made up his mind to join Schalke.
