Experience to pay off?

400 fans had paid a visit to the training ground to see Arminia return from the winter break - and to have a look at the man who wants to help the team "show its true potential".

Michael Frontzeck, born on March 26 1964 in Mönchengladbach, starts the job with the club's full backing.
"We are delighted to have signed a coach of the younger generation", general manager Roland Kentsch said. "He has clear ideas about how to work with the team. Additionally he is convinced that he can beat the drop with this squad", sporting manager Reinhard Saftig added.

Experienced footballer

Frontzeck may be one of the young guns in the coaching business, but he is a very experienced man in professional football.
He started his career at SPVG Odenkirchen 05/07 near Mönchengladbach before spending 18 years in professional football.

490 professional games

After seven years at Borussia Mönchengladbach, Frontzeck also played for VfB Stuttgart (1989 - 94), SC Freiburg and VfL Bochum.
He featured in 490 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga games, scoring 39 goals as a defender. He won 19 caps for Germany and the Bundesliga with VfB in 1992, but he also suffered relegation from the Bundesliga with Freiburg in 1997.

Relegated with Alemannia

He also got relegated last season with Alemannia Aachen, the first club he worked for as head coach after being assistant coach at Mönchengladbach and Hannover 96.
Now Arminia and Frontzeck have the same goal: establishing themselves at the highest level. Come May 17 we shall see if that will have been successful.
