Stuttgart's new signing Sergiu Radu gives an interview about his new club VfB and his goals with the defending champions.
Question: Sergiu, do you know that you could easily have been the most hated man among all VfB fans? Sergiu
Radu: Why?
Question: Do you remember May 19th last year?
Radu: Oh, of course.
Question: You had all of Stuttgart biting their nails thanks to your goal.
Radu: VfB and Stuttgart were a long way from my thoughts back then. I'd just signed for VfL Wolfsburg and I was happy that we'd achieved our goal of staying in the top flight with Cottbus. I was happy about my goal too but I have to say that even then I was convinced VfB would win the title. There was a great atmosphere in the stadium and I got to enjoy a huge party in the city that night.
Question: Following the title win, VfB have had their problems this season. As an outsider until now, how did you see the first half of the season for the club?
Radu: It was clear that it wouldn't be easy after winning the league. It's a young team that doesn't have so many experienced players which can be very important in such circumstances. There have been a lot of players out injured too which also makes it difficult to maintain a high level. Surely the expectations of the last six months haven't been met and in particular in the Champions League. Barcelona and Lyon were tough opponents to face at a difficult time. I still feel there is a lot of potential in the team and we will show that after the winter break.
